HA 2024 Exchange Letter

I'm CousinShelley at AO3.

Thank you in advance for writing one of these fandoms for me! Some requests are newer, and some fandoms generate more ideas, especially if I've requested them a lot. A shorter section than some others doesn't mean I love or want a fandom any less.

My requests in the app.

I offer a lot of prompts and mention what I like about the dynamics because it's fun for me to talk about them. If none of my prompts appeal, that's fine. The general things I like and do-not-wants are at the bottom (linked from the top) in bulleted lists.

My requests:

 Late Night with the Devil

  • Jack Delroy
  • Jack Delroy & Gus McConnell & Carmichael Haig
  • Jack Delroy/June Ross-Mitchell
  • Jack Delroy/Madeleine Piper

I loved this movie for a lot of reasons. I was a child in the 70s, and as a born night owl, by the late 70s I was sneaking up to watch Carson most nights. This movie nailed the aesthetic, attitudes and some of the cheese of 70s talk shows, so I'd have loved it for that, but then it included things like Bohemian Grove and James Randi with a wink and different names and did such a good job of never quite letting you decide whether you knew exactly what was going on. I can't wait to rewatch this and see what I might have missed the first time around.

I'm really fascinated by the idea that Delroy made a devil's bargain for fame, because he clearly didn't get it. He'd be infamous as a murderer, sure, but if people at the Grove knew that their deals were likely to be twisted that way, there'd be a lot fewer deals being made. And it's a lot more interesting to me that the deal wasn't cruelly twisted into making him famous in a way he clearly didn't want but that something went wrong at some point. I feel like Jack might have been smart enough to ask specifically to be the top-rated nighttime talk show host and not just some amorphous wish for fame that could be fulfilled by making him a mass murderer.

  • Why did the deal go so wrong? Did he fall short on his end of the bargain and end up punished for it rather than finally beating Carson legitimately and becoming the biggest talk show star? I'd love to see an exploration of how the whole thing progressed and why it ended the way it did.
  • I favor the idea that when Jack made the deal, he didn't knowingly and willingly understand that the price would be his wife's life. I got the sense that he truly adored her, even though he took up with June pretty quickly (or maybe had been with her before Madeleine died). When did he understand what had happened? Did he try to get out of it before she died to save her? Did he never put it together? How long was he in denial? How much of the deal did he understand?
  • What happened during the six months he stayed off the air? Was that something calculated as part of his rise to fame, was it mostly mourning, or something else?
  • I loved the nod to James Randi (of whom I've been a lifelong admirer) and his million-dollar challenge (made much less in the movie). I'd love anything exploring Haig's history on the show with Jack and Gus. Previous segments, behind-the-scenes stuff, or if you want to lean into Haig's hypocrisy at the end wanting to go to the Grove, Jack getting Haig invited and taking him there and being all kinds of conflicted about it would be great.
  • I'd also enjoy an alternate ending where nobody dies and Jack finally hits #1 in late night. Because of this he's expected to keep going to the Grove and the cost of continuing his fame has to be dealt with. Bringing others in, like maybe Haig, could be part of that. Does he know he paid for this with Madeleine's life at this point? Is he planning to reveal everything to an audience in some kind of revenge? Is he supposed to use his show to help demons find victims in his audience? There are a lot of idea to explore here. Does Gus know something's wrong? Is Madeleine there where only he can see her, taunting him, encouraging him, making him miserable or making him want to bring everything down?
  • Was Jack used as part of another deal to kill Lilly and set right what went wrong when she escaped? Or maybe she does die on the show, but it's more an accidental or self-defense act, she attacks Jack and it's not his fault, and that starts a path of demonic influence for his show that he tries to escape from.
  • I'd love to see how he and June met and how the whole idea of her bringing Lilly onto the show was hatched. Who orchestrated it, or was it a completely chance encounter? Was part of his bargain (knowingly or not) bringing her and the demon to his show, and after they met they just hit it off? Was she supposed to replace Madeleine and give demons access to both Jack and his audience? Any of their history would be great. I'd also like to see more of him and Madeleine before and after the Grove. Did she suspect that her illness had anything to do with it?
  • The mass hypnosis angle and the trance-like states, especially Jack's at the end, leave room for so many possibilities. How much of the entire movie was real, and could some of it, including the ending, have been only an illusion to show Jack the many ways his life could go if he didn't play ball with the Grove elite? Another idea would be what happens afterward? Do the Grove elites and dark forces swoop in to make things disappear and keep Jack from paying any consequences? How much of what he thinks happened does he discover was an illusion later, including deaths?
  • An exorcism on the show where the demon's driven out of Lilly (maybe into someone else) would be a good angle too. Lilly isn't in any of the character groups, but she or Christou or any other characters are more than welcome.
  • I do also like the idea of him turning down the deal when he understands the price and things going bad for him because of that, including his wife's death, and maybe bringing Lilly on the show is some sort of mixed-up plan to make a deal with that demon for revenge (and maybe he doesn't firmly believe but he's desperate).
  • And while I do favor him not willingly trading his wife's life for fame, it'd also be interested if he did make the deal knowing the price but not really believing it and just playing along because of the desire to hobnob with powerful star-making people, and then having to deal with the fallout and regret. I can also see a great story coming out of him knowingly making the deal, even though I got the sense that he didn't. Was it marriage for appearances he wanted out of it to be with June or just to be free, so he readily agreed but maybe expected it would be sudden and quick rather than her having to suffer so much? Was he offered a can't-say-no deal where he had to choose the lesser of two or more evils, and Madeleine dying that way was the best option?
  • Anything drawing on the lore of the cult and their rituals and why getting rid of Lilly in this particular way would be great too. I love the idea of dark forces manipulating everything and all the machinations behind that, especially with Jack thinking he's doing all the decision-making and that there's nothing to do with (or little to do with) his trip to the Grove.

You can write older show segments, a fix-it with post-canon shows or events, a backstory, expand the show that's shown in the film or surprise me with something else. I look forward to reading any direction you want to take this!

Red River

  • Matthew Garth/Cherry Valance

I love this move for having Montgomery Clift and John Ireland with gun belts slung around their narrow hips while they fondle and admire each other's guns. That's it. That's the movie.

Okay, unfortunately that's not the whole movie, and John Ireland isn't in the film nearly as much as I would have liked. But the scenes they share are so charged with sexual tension and what seem to be knowing looks. The minute Cherry Valance appears, he immediately starts eye-fucking Matt and it never seems to end.

Behold:

I love the idea of them making innuendos and flirting to the point that they're desperate for a moment of privacy to act on their feelings. More of the innuendo from the film (I've taken a liking to his gun, ffs) would be fantastic too.

Hurt/comfort would be great in a scenario where one is injured and the other takes care of them like after an accidental shooting, being trampled by cattle, thrown from a horse or something that could happen on a cattle drive. A post-canon fix-it where Garth nurses Cherry back to health after he's shot and feelings are acted on wouldn't go amiss, believe me.

Being trapped together for some reason whether to hide or weather or storm would be great, as would having to share a bed or bedroll or any kind of forced proximity.

One of them accidentally seeing the other masturbate and being unable to stop thinking about it could lead to a great story, as could one seeing the other and getting involved, either watching or joining in, or it leading to mutual masturbation or more.

The list of freeforms I chose for this in an old request serves as a good idea of the kind of things I'd like for them. Each one is essentially a prompt, but feel free to write whatever idea you have!

  • Sex Tropes - Watching each other masturbate
  • Can't Stop Thinking About It - B Accidentally Sees A Masturbating
  • Sex Tropes - Receiver pets/strokes/pulls/otherwise touches giver’s hair during oral sex
  • Sex Tropes - Kneeling to perform oral sex
  • Sex Tropes - sex against a wall with one character holding the other one up
  • Fuck Buddies - Both try to hide their feelings as they mistakenly think the other just wants sex
  • Trapped - Have to hide in cabin together due to bad weather
  • Jealousy - Jealousy leads to possessive sex
  • Secret Relationship
  • Sex Tropes - First Time - First Time with Another Man
  • Kissing - First Kiss
  • Hurt/Comfort - Hurt/sick character needs to be carried
  • Hurt/Comfort - Hurt/sick character isn't quite lucid
  • Pining - Character reveals their feelings while not quite lucid (hurt/drunk/etc.)
  • Hurt/Comfort - Emotional Hurt/Comfort
  • Protectiveness - Catching injured/sick/drunk character as they faint or lose balance
  • Rescue - A comes to B's rescue then passes out due to sustained injuries/exhaustion once B is safe
  • Hurt/Comfort - Tending injuries
  • Protectiveness - Character A Hurt While Protecting Character B

Evil

  • Ben Shakir & Karima Shakir
  • Father Frank Ignatius/Monsignor Matthew Korecki
  • David Acosta/Kristen Bouchard/Ben Shakir
  • David Acosta & Kristen Bouchard & Ben Shakir

An Evil story can be super dark, creepy, full-bore horror, but I'd prefer it not end dark or bleak. I like happy or at least hopeful endings.

I would adore a story focused on Ben and Karima. I love them both so much. Ben's my favorite, and I wish Karima appeared in every episode is some capacity or another.

I chose both the & and / for the main three, and I'll honestly enjoy either. Canon-typical shenanigans with David, Kristen, and Ben would be great, whether missing scenes from the show or something new. I love the way they interact, period. If you opt for / it can be with or without actual sex. I like flirting, sexual tension, and heavy foreshadowing that they'll get together in the future, if you don't want to write sex.

I fell in love Matthew/Frank as soon as Frank showed up and Matt was so concerned, and then Frank's surprise kiss after he didn't die! And Frank going somewhere else because it was better if they weren't around each other. And of course, the feelings running both directions being confirmed in the worst of ways. :(

Ben & Karima

  • I adore Ben's relationship with Karima. I'm still intrigued by what the smart home device said about her baby being with the Muslim equivalent of the devil and her just refusing to discuss it with him, so exploring that could be interesting.
  • I'd be equally interested to see him working things out about his struggle to stay skeptical with Karima and how he comes to a decision about it, even temporarily.
  • Maybe Ben marvels over Karima's hacking skills in any situation, or is visibly proud of her to David and Kristen, or just them bantering over anything.
  • I LOVE Karima helping Ben figure stuff out. More Ben and Karima at the Super Secret Science League. That whole episode and their closeness was such a blast!
  • Ben telling her about the elevator game and confessing that it's messed him up, and her comforting him. I'd love to see his trauma explored a little more than it has been on the show, with her supporting him. And I'd love to see him telling her about it and her freaking out about almost losing him with them both still not quite believing it all.
  • Sibling high-fives and hugs! Snarking at each other! Arguing and making up! More Ben and Karima being close siblings, period.
  • Karima sleeping over because they're so involved in whatever mystery they're trying to unravel or supernatural thing they're trying to debunk and experiencing something unexplainable in his apartment (seeing the succubus? Finding a retainer? Thinking she sees a demon?) or Karima meeting Ben's ex who appears to have killed the spirit of her twin and giving him her no-nonsense opinion (same with finding out about the gal he slept with at the cult compound).I love them so much. Anything.

David/Kristen/Ben and David & Kristen & Ben

  • Anything that demonstrates the love, respect and trust between any of the mains. Like when Ben made the deep fake of Leland for Kristen, just trusting what she said to be true, and how she trusted him to do that. And how Ben works for David, not the church, because he trusts and cares about David. How David confided in Kristen about the mushrooms and how they have this thing going on between them. Anything highlighting trust and loyalty would be so great.
  • The season that just ended raises all sorts of possibility, and I'm totally okay if they have a threesome that turns out to only be part of David's hallucination. In fact, I really really like that idea, especially with him having lustful thoughts after while he's around them knowing what's happening at night isn't real and struggling to stop thinking about it, wanting it and taking part in it when the opportunity arises.
  • If you write sex, it can be 100% consensual or under-the-influence of something and I'll enjoy it either way. Just please make it natural and spontaneous without negotiations or rules or "formal" agreements, even if it's a stone-cold sober decision. No discussion at all would work, too.
  • I love dubcon, so it can be dubcon all day long, but please no outright noncon between these characters. However, one or more can feel guilty as if they nonconned one or both of the others, as long as that's resolved by the end.
  • Along those lines, maybe they're influenced by demons or some force that thinks having them all together will destroy their relationships, but of course it has the opposite effect. The devil can think that some dubcon threesome where they double-team Kristen or where David or Ben has sex with the other is going to make them avoid each other, but joke's on you, bad guy, they secretly wanted it anyway, so there.
  • Maybe David and Kristen could be in another scenario like at the farm and Ben shows up, and that's how it happens. Maybe he shows up in that episode, the night David and Kristen first kissed, and things ensue. Any situation like that's going to be good by me.
  • The three of them can also be together without any sex with just serious flirting going on and maybe the implication that things are going to happen between them eventually, whether they're influenced by something or not.
  • The end of the season was devastating. More insight into them comforting Kristen when she told them about Andy, how she goes to them immediately after the end of the season (because surely she did run to tell them) and how they react.
  • The scenes from the Demon of the Road where they're in the car, singing and hanging out and just being best friends? I love that kind of thing, so more of that would be great. Road tripping for a case, getting stranded at a motel or anywhere, whether with friendship or romantic/sexual dynamics, would be great.
  • I'd love to see a scene where Ben just doesn't take in the information about Leland being on a child's app in quite so much stride but instead asks more questions and learns the whole story then informs Kristen and David, and what they might think and do about that. Ben and the kids are one of my favorite things, and him being something they trust to tell things even more, so if you want to go there, feel free!
  • I'm fine if they all, or two of the three, get dosed with David's mushrooms and either get sexy with each other or reveal shippy feelings to each other, or have some epiphanies about spiritual things or a case specifically, depending on where you want to take things.
  • Pick up where the season ends and take it in whatever direction you want, or focus  more on a single case they had or a new one. Any situation from a dinner together to working to planning a 'yay you're not dead' party for Andy or dealing with her kids would be great. More show-like interactions is all I really need!
  • I'd also love to hear Ben's and Kristen's take on the magical glowing vagina-like portal (I can't help thinking that every time) that opens in the sky filled with saints in David's visions.

Matthew/Frank

  • I'd love to see awkward moments from their earliest years in the seminary where it was clear they felt things for each other but couldn't act on them.  Awkward flirting that couldn't lead anywhere, hands brushing, secret smiles and all the pining and longing would be fantastic.
  • How did they end up loving one another a little too much? All those little moments that lead to something bigger would be great.
  • I think it'd be great to see Matthew's anguish that Frank is dying and everything he may have said or felt leading up to the experiment where he inexplicably lived. Even if it's just his private journals rather than anything he said out loud.
  • How they decided it would be best if Matt went to another parish, whether one pushed for him staying there and one realizing they wouldn't be able to resist, or if they both knew it would be impossible to stay chaste if they saw each other every day.
  • It'd be great if the story ended with Matthew still alive. Either before his death or a fix-it where he's hurt but lives and Frank sees him the next day in the hospital or recuperating and expresses himself and his feelings more than on the show. Frank breaking down the way he did (oh, my heart) because he thinks Matthew is dead/dying then he lives would be great.
  • If it's a fix-it, I'd be interested to see them navigate Frank deciding to stay and helping with the assessors' projects, and Matthew agreeing, because they've both cheated death and maybe that's some kind of sign that they shouldn't waste the borrowed time they have left. An agreement between them and getting together in the face of all that happened would be terrific, but I'm just as happy with them still resisting but being around each other.
  • An epistolary story made up of mostly letters one or both have written to the other over the years could be really great for showing their relationship and forbidden feelings, too.

Vampires

  • Jack Crow/Adam Guiteau

I'd love a story ranging from a missing scene(s) during canon, a canon divergence at any point after they met, or a post-canon tale. One or both can be hurt, tortured, turned in a vampire and/or menaced by a big bad Master, as long as they both stay alive (or undead).

I do want Jack and Adam to have actual feelings for each other underneath whatever's going on (and I'm happy for anything from getting together and purely shippy stuff to the horniest sex you want to write). I know Jack doesn't show much affection, or it comes with a slap in front of it, but I like to think he genuinely feels affection or more for the padre.

I love that he's a violent, impatient asshole. I want him to be those things. But I also want him to care. And seeing Adam won over to Jack's ways and roughen up a little over time is great too.

I love the ride-or-die and nobody gets to hurt you but me aspects of their relationship. Jack showing actual emotion toward Adam at some breaking point or because he's held it in so long would be great. All the tropes seem like they'd be great for this ship.

  • One thinking the other is dead, completely losing it, and finding them alive is a favorite of mine and would be interesting no matter which character thinks the other is dead. I can see Jack wanting to burn down the world and having an emotional moment to discover Adam alive. I can also see Adam being devastated and maybe behaving more like Jack than before, and losing it when he discovers he's alive (and Jack being smug about how relieved Adam is). Them each thinking the other was dead would make an amazing reunion .
  • One getting bitten and figuring that's the end, but it's not. Somehow they can stave off the transformation, or maybe they're on the trail of a cure so the bitten one becomes a vampire and has to travel with the other to get it. What happens? Is the cure difficult, maybe some religious blood magic/sex magic thing they have to do? There are a lot of fun possibilities.
  • Either for a cure or just to protect Jack, Adam has to have sex with the person offering. I don't want on-page non-con if the encounter is in the story (his fear/dread and fade to black are fine though) and he can be physically hurt after, as well as traumatized (or totally okay, too) and Jack has to take care of him. His discovery at what Adam did and how he feels about it would be worth exploring.
  • One of them has to pretend being evil or that they're betraying the other to work some plan to save them.
  • I can't really think of a plausible scenario for them pretending to be a couple, but that would be a blast to read. Maybe they need information from someone in a gay bar and somebody's all over Adam, so Jack puts a stop to it by pretending they're together? Or the Church sends them on some mission where they have to pretend to be a couple for some crazy reason?
  • It would also be great to see a situation where Adam has to pretend to be Jack and Jack has to pretend to be the priest for at least a while.
  • I really like scenarios that involve some way for vampires to feed on humans without turning them unless they intend to. The discovery of some medicine, herb or ritual that makes a human immune to being turned from a simple bite could be so much fun. One of them who turns could feed on the other, for instance, while they're looking for a cure or just hunting other vamps.
  • The ability for a human to stay human after being bitten would also lend itself to a lot of other great stories. Like a Master wanting Adam as his personal blood supply and/or sex object, and Jack losing his mind. I would be okay with a story where it's heavily implied that there's non-con happening and Adam has to deal with that after Jack rescues him, but please don't have it on-page. (Unwanted kissing and touching while the Master's toying with him if is fine, just not non-con sex except off-page and implied please.)
  • Whether some ritual, or fighting off some sort of vampire mojo, or a discovery that sex is the way to save somebody from turning, whatever the case may be, a 'something made them do it' fic would be great, as long as they're both into by the end (and secretly at least somewhat into it at the start, if not totally and visibly on-board).

Riptide

  • Cody Allen/Nick Ryder
  • Cody Allen/Nick Ryder & Murray Bozinsky

My favorite thing about Nick and Cody is that they are constantly in each other's personal bubble in a way that would feel awkward to most people, even the closest of friends. The whole show is like they're lovers who just haven't figured that out yet. When one sits down the other practically sits in his lap, and neither of them bat an eye.

And of course they've been there for each other through thick and thin, took care of each other in Vietnam, live together, sleep in the same room and even work together. There's only one way for them to get closer, and if you want to go there I will be on board, but it's also great if you write them getting to shippy without sex.

Feel free to include Murray if you want. I do like him being able to see that they love each other before the guys do and either doing nothing or nudging them ever so slightly towards each other. Them having to rescue him is always a winner too, or him teaming with one of the guys to rescue the other. But it's purely and & relationship. I don't want Boz romantically linked to either Nick or Cody, but he's free to have a love interest of any gender within the story as long as it's not one of them.

I'd really rather avoid a bunch of angst about being gay or bi in the 80s, but I do like when one is afraid to make it known because they worry about damaging the friendship, and the happiness when it's revealed that of course nothing could damage the friendship and they felt the same all along, yay!

I love first times for them, all the getting together scenarios, whether with just revelation of feelings or all the way to sexy times.

  • Peril and concern for each other, like one getting kidnapped for some reason and the other frantic to rescue them. And if the cops think the kidnapped one is dead but the other refuses to give up and accept that, I love that kind of stuff. One rescuing the other, doesn't matter which is which, is great.
  • Undercover as gay is a winner here. Maybe they have to pretend to be a couple for a case and it makes them realize some things. And if they're in a hotel or somewhere and, oh no, there's only one bed, all the better. Sex isn't necessary for me to enjoy the story even in a bedsharing situation, but if you want to write, I'll enjoy it!
  • Being mistaken as a couple by someone on the outside, a new person they're helping with a case, and that person explaining why they thought that could be good. Someone pointing out that straight heterosexual guys don't generally sit almost in each other's laps when there are several feet of space on either side of them might make them realize some things.
  • PTSD nightmares and flashbacks that have the other person comforting them, particularly with bedsharing, is great. I like one dreaming of the other dying and waking up frantic to grab ahold of him to assure himself he's okay. Lots of touching, holding, grabbing, that kind of thing. They're very handsy with each other, so more of that!
  • One gets shot while they're on a case, and they can't get to help right away so the other has to take care of them until help comes.
  • In any kind of danger situation, the whole "not him, take me instead" thing is fantastic both for the self-sacrifice of it but what it does to the other person. I like a lot of angst, as long as there's a happy ending. Also a fan of one being tortured to hurt the other in a hostage/kidnapping situation where they're trying to get information about something or just revenge, as long as the hurt one is rescued before it gets too bad.
  • For a lighter story, maybe the guys get invited to some conference and though they have the opportunity to date a couple gorgeous women, they prefer to hang out together instead. Feel free to have Murray there, maybe he drags them to something they're not looking forward to, and end up going off alone to do the same kinds of things they'd do on the Riptide, and start to realize what that means.
  • One getting jealous over the other is always great, as long as it ends up resolved with them together.

Our Flag Means Death

  • Israel Hands/Evelyn Higgins

This is a request from when we had one season. I'm fine with doing S2 or post-canon, but Izzy can't die or can't be expected to die in the future please. No references to that. It can be before or after his unicorn leg!

I adore this show, it makes me really happy, and I ship all the canon couples. If you really want to include another character, feel free, love them all.

And look, I don't care how you get them in the same place at the same time, but the shared level of contempt for most of humanity would bond these two in an amazing way, wouldn't it? I think an enemies to lovers story would be great with them disliking each other immediately and intensely and that turning into something hot, though I'd be happy with any level of sex in the story, from none to full-on.

I just adore her, and I think she and Izzy would like each other and she would also instantly give zero fucks what he thinks, because she's a tough one, and I love that. Her being much taller than him also floats my boat.

  • I don't know how the hell they'd meet, maybe Ed disappeared in search of Stede after he got over his heartache instead of breaking bad, so Izzy goes in search of him in Stede's town and meets Evelyn, or they run into each other at any point, even post-canon or pre-Stede, for some reason.
  • I like the idea of Izzy teaching her some sword moves, maybe to protect herself, or them committing murder together. Murder as bonding! Maybe someone's threatening Evelyn and they take care of the problem. Izzy dispatches an annoying ex or helps her to do it because he's a gentleman in many ways and can't stand men who mistreat women?
  • I also like the idea that when meet they can't stand each other and just insult the hell out of each other, but their arguing and/or murderous exploits lead to friendship and/or feelings.
  • I think Izzy has a subby side and would probably like the other to take charge when they're intimate, and I think Evelyn probably knows exactly what she wants, so I think they'd be incredibly hot together. She's just a woman who knows what she needs and knows exactly how to get it and he's a man relieved to be able to give it to her.
  • Maybe at some point Izzy meets her because he's been tasked with killing her as some kind of old debt or favor or something. She's clearly been up to some shit and maybe have a couple of enemies. Maybe he convinces her to use a different name and go somewhere else, but maybe he ends up admiring her so much he turns on the person who wanted her dead?
  • It could also be interesting if when they meet Evelyn assumes here's there pursuing a woman who scorned him and she intends to be an obstacle every step of the way, because she looks out for other women. When she finds out he's looking for a man, she can find him a lot more interesting. Of if he's there for any other reason, her making bad assumptions about him at first that give way to a less threatening reality would be great.
  • I DNW hitting (mostly because there's too much of it for me in most things that include it) but it occurs to me that Izzy might have a little masochistic streak in him. I mean, the damn toe and his absolute devotion and everyting. So if he enjoyed a well-time smack in the face (and a bit of a hair pull) from a powerful woman, well, who could blame him? I'm thinking more them so completely into it that she does these things, nothing like formal BDSM or D/s.
  • Honestly, him kissing/tonguing her hands would be pretty amazing, too.

I just think a story with these two badasses at the center would be amazing. Let them lose control with each other or never even get to a kiss as long as there's obvious sexual tension or somewhere in between. It'll be fun no matter what.

Severance

  • Mark Scout/Peter Kilmer
  • Irving Bailiff/Burt Goodman

I love Severance so much. Feel free to include any characters you might want to. And if you're trying to write one couple but nothing's coming, I'm perfectly okay with a plotty ensemble piece as long as one of the pairings is in there and there's at least some clear romantic and/or sexual tension between them

I ship Mark/Peter pretty hard and would love to see flashes of Mark and Petey's friendship at Lumon, how they got so close and how they got closer than the show had them get. I'd love to see anything from secret pining to stolen moments at work to Petey and/or Mark remembering bits and pieces of those things while Peter is staying in Mark's basement.

  • Maybe while he's staying there, longer than in canon, Mark gets an innate sense that he's trustworthy and not crazy, and things start to develop that they resisted before.
  • One of them has to do the apology ritual or some other weird Lumon punishment and the other comforts them afterward.
  • Pete is in Mark's basement and remembers their affair but Mark doesn't, so as things heat up between them, the closer they get, the more something pushes against Mark's memory. If he doesn't necessarily remember specifics, he can come to know that something is very wrong.
  • Mark accidentally sees Peter masturbating at work and that starts something between them. Mark can be as conflicted at first as you want. Or vice versa and Pete catches him.
  • While Pete's in Mark's basement, Mark starts to remember their relationship at Lumon in flashes.
  • As things heat up between them while Pete's in Mark's basement, they realize how familiar it feels and the way they kiss and touch each other seems to be muscle memory, so they know something happened before.
  • Hurt/comfort can never go wrong. In caring for Peter, Mark starts to have feelings that seem oddly familiar and Peter reveals that they were lovers, or really anything that leads them to get together in this kind of a scenari.
  • Pete is in a much better state than in the show and starts running into Mark on purpose and trying to attract his attention without Mark knowing he's from Lumon, and it works. He wants Mark, and he also wants to gain his trust so he can convince him to get away from the place.
  • Pete tells Mark they were lovers, and Mark thinks Pete's out to scam him or something, so Peter slowly convinces him by showing him that he knows exactly how Mark like to be kissed and touched reveals he knows other non-sexual secrets and quirks he has.
  • Petey lives and finds Mark when his innie is at the book party and they have an emotional reunion.
  • Innies have to be touch-starved, so anything that plays into that would be great, whether a scene of them at work or Peter trying to make Mark remember on the outside, even just having him close his eyes and feel the way Pete touches his face or something, maybe like the first time they did anything together in the hopes it will break something loose, and it does

Burt/Irving:

  • I'd love to see a continuation of the end of S1 and how that pans out when Irving gets his memory turned off. Is there some sense between them that they should know each other? (I know this doesn't happen in the show, the severance seems 100% until people fiddle with it, but I love the idea of enough leaking through that people are at least aware of not remembering something they should, or more.)
  • Does Burt's husband intervene somehow because he realizes what's happened or suspects that they knew each other at Lumon? How much does Irving get out and get to say to Burt before his memory slams shut?
  • Maybe Burt's husband informs him of what he was doing and makes it clear to him that he needs to hide or at least makes him aware that his Innie broke through in some way. Irving was clearly investigating Lumon, so with that information, he's a lot better prepared to deal with what's happening and decide whether he's going back. And now that there's a connect with Burt on the outside, he can keep that connection. What happens?
  • Does something happen before that to prevent Burt from retiring? Do they get to have another private moment together before he leaves? More of what we already got would be great!
  • Heck, just a day in the life at Lumon, in or out, with either pairing appearing would be great. Anything exploring things we didn't get to see!

Things I Like

  • Friendship, found families, loyalty, love, deep emotional connections, devotion, displays of affection and respect
  • Third person POV
  • Flirting, pining, UST and getting together fic
  • Possessiveness and a little jealousy
  • Missing scenes and fix-its, as well as case-fic and plotty stories
  • Protectiveness and characters sacrificing their own comforts to help others
  • Mutual pining with a happy ending, unrequited love finally realized
  • Hurt/comfort, especially after a nightmare, tending wounds, caring for them when they're ill or injured, hovering after something traumatic and trying to take their mind off things
  • Tropes like only one bed and every other possible bedsharing scenario, fake couple/marriage leading to real romance, forced proximity and bonus if there’s peril
  • First kiss, first times, first realization of feelings
  • Humor, snark and banter, laughing and joking with each other
  • Happy or at the very least ambiguously hopeful endings

Sex-Related Likes

  • Porn with feelings and emotional or romantic sex
  • Dubcon when requested
  • Desperate kisses and one or both partners overwhelmed with passion and feelings
  • Manhandling and displays of strength, up against the wall sex
  • Kneeling (any reason but especially for oral sex or to kiss knees or thighs or anything like that, grand)
  • Penetrative sex, oral sex, fingers, frottage, mutual masturbation or one watching the other
  • Naked and half-naked or one clothed and the other naked, basically any combo of clothed/not clothed
  • Necking, petting, face and neck and body stroking, kissing and/or sucking or licking pretty much anywhere
  • I really like up against the wall, taken from behind, and one riding the other, but any positions are fine
  • Thank god you're/we're alive sex
  • One character being suddenly so overcome with feeling and desire for the other they kiss them and initiate things out of the blue, like they can't wait another second--love those big music swell moments
  • When requested or present in canon, hair-pulling or ass-slapping in the heat of the moment
  • With appropriate pairings, like vampires, blood drinking and/or licking blood off the other’s mouth, face, neck, etc. can’t go wrong. With vampires, blood doesn't fall under my bodily fluid DNW.
  • I like stories with no sex, fade-to-black, or full-on smut, so write whatever level you prefer. I like at least as much if not more focus on the emotions as on what body part goes where.

Do Not Want (DNW)

I have exceptions and qualifications for DNWs in certain cases and will mention those specifically in my requests.

  • Anything related to COVID19 or politics
  • AUs except canon divergence
  • Major character death, disabling or fatal illness or injury
  • Self-harm and suicide
  • Unhappy or bleak endings
  • Script format/only dialogue
  • 1st and 2nd person POV
  • Original character or unrequested character POV
  • Unrequested gender and sexuality headcanons
  • Cruelty to animals or animal death
  • Infidelity and friend/partner betrayal
  • Holiday stories
  • Unrequested crossovers
  • Speculative elements (ghosts, aliens, sex pollen) in non-speculative canons
  • Kidfic, pregnancy or birth

Sex-Related DNWs

  • Non-con
  • Underage
  • BDSM, D/s and/or consent negotiations
  • Generic dirty talk, calling someone slut, whore or other names
  • Mommy/Daddy kink
  • Sex toys
  • Sexual pain and torture, hitting, suffocating, dehumanization, humiliation, even if consensual
  • Anything related to or focusing on body fluids, secretions or wastes, including spitting and come play, though sweaty sex is fine

To clarify on the serious illness or injury, referencing canon trauma is fine but someone having an amputation, stroke or a life-threatening non-canon disease, or developing any mental disorders like schizophrenia, is a big no.

Injuries and illnesses that can heal are fine, like someone getting shot in a casefic or having the flu or broken bones, for instance.
